Read the Serving Size

Check how many capsules or tablets make one serving and how many servings are in the bottle.

Look for Amounts

Ingredient names without quantities make it difficult to compare a product with published research.

Understand Proprietary Blends

A proprietary blend can disclose the names of ingredients without providing a separate amount for each one. This can limit dose-level comparisons.

Check the Form

“Green tea,” “green tea extract,” and a standardized extract are not necessarily interchangeable. The same principle applies to minerals and botanical preparations.

Compare Like With Like

When comparing a supplement with research, match ingredient form, dose, duration and population as closely as possible.
